RE Day - Friday 30th January 2015

The whole school took part in our RE day on Friday. The day was designed to celebrate the four main monotheistic faiths studied throughout school. Each classroom represented a faith and children learnt about a festival associated with each. Children worked in their Owl families and it was fantastic to see the older children supporting the younger children. In Pluto (Sikhism) children made vegetable curry and rangoli patterns. In Jupiter (Christianity) we learnt about Lent and tasted pancakes and decorated leaves and thought about what we would like to be forgiven for. Saturn (Islam) we thought about the Festival of Eid and decorated prayer mats, made crescent and moon mobiles and used paints to create mendhi patterns. Venus (Judaism) we studied the Festival of Purim, made hammentaschen and graggas (noisemakers). Mars (Christianity) looked at Easter and joy of the resurrection. Children worked together to create Easter gardens and made crosses from hamma beads.
